La Repubblica

We’ve seen ourselves reported in the American press before – now we spy ourselves in Italy. Check out pics of us – and the rest of the Secret Cinema happening – in La Repubblica. We are in shots 9 and 10 of the set of 21.

One flew east, one flew west…

A fantastically creepy showreel of the Secret Cinema’s staging of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, featuring our own Experimental Ward and electroconvulsive therapy treatment (at the hands of actor Jon Chartres, our “doctor” for the evening) starting about 1:25 in.

By independent filmmaker Turan.

Who says shrinks are dry?

A big thank you to psychiatrist Dr Mark Salter, who gave us guidance and advice as we prepared to take over the Experimental Ward in the Secret Cinema’s homage to One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. He gave extensive advice to our actors for their depiction of electroconvulsive therapy (circa 1950), introduced us to more superb psychiatrists, and provided input on contemporary issues.

Dr Salter was an enlightening delight on opening night, teaching us new lobotomy techniques, sharing wisdom with the crowd, and even diagnosing a few on the spot (rumour has it a member of the cast or two may be alcoholics).

And he took these fabulous portraits for us.

Dr Salter, second from the right, looking very professional indeed.
